What is the M&M Club?

The Mature & Motivated Club is an exclusive fitness and well being program designed specifically for the over 50’s, and is conducted under the supervision of qualified fitness instructors.

Motivating exercise classes, social gatherings and informative wellbeing seminars are the major components of the club.

Program

Initial Consultation (compulsory)

Your initial consultation will include a Fitness Test, assessing strength, flexibility, aerobic endurance, agility and dynamic balance.

It is compulsory for all M&M participants to attend the initial consultation before taking part in any physical activity. A personalised weights program will be included with your orientation of the gym.

Testing

Testing will be conducted annually to monitor member’s progress. The testing will incorporate a revision of the initial consultation. (Casual members will be required to pay an additional fee)

Exercise Classes

The classes are supervised by qualified Fitness Instructors who provide ongoing support, motivation and advice on technique correction and posture.

An emphasis on strength and conditioning, flexibility, functional movement and fun is incorporated into the exercise classes.

Classes are held at 7.45am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. 10.15am Monday to Friday and 11.15am Thursday. (Exclusive to M&M club members ONLY)

12 month members also have the option to attend the general Aqua-aerobics/Deep Water Running (DWR) group exercise classes. (Please refer to the Group Exercise Timetable)

Seminars & Social Gatherings

Informative seminars will be held throughout the year to keep all M&M Club members up to date with health, fitness and general wellbeing.

Fun, social gatherings including morning teas and an annual Christmas party will held throughout the year.

Group exercise classes

Class Duration (minutes) Description
Aerobics 60 A low impact, but challenging exercise class to motivating music. The class focuses on cardio-vascular fitness, general wellbeing, balance, co-ordination and incorporates an abdominal strengthening component, concluding with a cool down and a full body stretch.
Core Strength 60 A combination of Pilates and Yoga with a series of body conditioning exercises aimed at strengthening and lengthening the muscles, where little or no impact is placed on the joints of the body. Focus is placed on improved posture, flexibility, balance, co-ordination, abdominal control and body awareness.

Deep Water Running

45 A fun non-weight bearing water workout conducted in our heated 50m Olympic pool. Participants are suspended in the water by a buoyancy belt. Emphasis is placed on joint mobility, cardio-vascular conditioning and muscular endurance. Not only an excellent class for those in rehabilitation but also for the everyday fitness enthusiast. No swimming experience is necessary. (Hat, sunscreen & water bottle required)

Gym

A specially tailored gym program will be designed to suit each member’s individual fitness level and mobility. The class will commence with a warm up on either a treadmill or an exercise bike, progressing to the weight equipment and finishing with a cool down and stretch. The session will be fully supervised by a Fitness Instructor.

Strength & Conditioning

A resistance based group exercise class to music utilizing participants own body weight, barbells and dumbbells. The focus is on conditioning, stimulating and strengthening all major muscle groups.  The benefit of participating in this class is increased mobility and functional movement. The class finishes with a cool down and a stretch.

TRX Suspension Training

Every TRX Suspension Training exercise builds true functional strength and improves flexibility, balance and core stability. Movements using the TRX integrate strength and balance into a single, dynamic format.

Zumba Gold

60

Zumba Gold a dance orientated fitness class that is fresh and exhilarating. Zumba Gold classes provide modified, low-impact moves for active older adults. The class introduces easy to follow choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Zumba is exercise in disguise.
