Bond University recently announced it will be co-major partner of the Brisbane Lions Women’s Team in 2018.

The partnership will see the Bond University logo feature on the back of the playing jumper for the next two years.

Brisbane Lions AFLW Senior Coach Craig Starcevich acknowledged and thanked Bond for its support ahead of the 2018 season.

“I would like to recognise the sponsors who have been on the journey with us all the way through. We are so thrilled to have them on board with us this season,” he said.

Bond’s Executive Director of Sport, Garry Nucifora said the University was extremely proud to take its partnership with the Brisbane Lions women’s team to the next level.

“2017 has been an exciting year for women’s sport, and women’s football in particular, at Bond University,” Mr Nucifora said.

“This year our women’s AFL team took out its first Grand Final in the QWFA Division 1 Premiership after just three years in competition – a performance of which the entire Bond community is incredibly proud.

“It seems only fitting that we look to grow and enhance our relationship with the sport by extending our partnership with the Brisbane Lions women’s team in 2018 to that of co-major sponsor for the next two years.

“I for one cannot wait to see the women’s team take the field with the Bond University brand – a brand synonymous with elite athletes, women’s sport and world-class education - on the back of their guernsey.”

Last month Bond University announced the inaugural female recipient of its Riewoldt Family AFL Excellence Scholarship was Arianna Clarke, who – the following day – became the Lions’ 15th pick at the 2017 AFL Women’s Draft.

As the recipient of the 100% full-tuition scholarship, Arianna will begin her Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Bond University in January 2018.
