What distinguishes Bond from its counterparts is our commitment to student development. This commitment is reflected in Bond’s world-class sporting programs. While at Bond, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports from a social to elite level, including swimming, soccer and rugby union, to name a few. All Bond sports teams play under the Bullsharks banner – a banner with a proud tradition of determination and success.

Established in 1993, the Australian University Games (AUG) is the flagship event on the Australian university sporting calendar. To qualify for the AUG, athletes must excel at regional university games. Held annually from September to October, the AUG attracts more than 7,000 student athletes hailing from 42 tertiary institutions, competing at an Olympic standard. During the month-long Games, athletes participate in 32 sporting competitions, including Athletics, Australian Football, Basketball, Cycling, Rowing and Sailing, among others.
Throughout the history of the AUG, Bond has consistently performed at a high level. For the past two years, Bond has taken out one of the Game’s most coveted prizes – the Doug Ellis trophy. In 2013 and 2014, Bond won this trophy, by securing the most gold medal pennants per capita.
Bond Elite Sport Program
Bond’s intensive 3-semester structure can make it challenging for student athletes. However thanks to Bond's continued dedicatation to supporting students, athletes can train around studies. Bond is a member of the Australian Sport Commission’s Elite Athlete Friendly University Agreement (EAFUA), which provides guidelines for flexible study loads and requirements. In partnership with the EAFUA, Bond is committed to supporting elite athletes in the pursuit of their sporting goals. By introducing academic regulations for elite athletes, students will be able to pursue their sporting and academic ambitions with equal passion. The status of an elite athlete will be granted to students if they represent their chosen sport at a national or international level.
